Phase II: Arrival
22” x 16” x 46”, Mild Steel

Continuing the narrative of Departure, Arrival positions itself as the site in which users enter cyclic consciousness. This secondary object investigates the interplay between weight and lightness as a means of articulating an intangible sublime. It seeks to identify a threshold at which material form transcends its earthly condition to evoke the fantastical in which transformation takes place.

Narrative Materiality

Initial development involved establishing a methodology that allowed narrative continuity across both form and material. Drawing from Donna Haraway’s theory of “Fabulation” and the notion of “Material Magic”, Arrival emerges as a diegetic instrument embodying characteristics of both manmade and natural phenomena.

It explores metaphors of birth and communication, reflecting on symbolic portals– eclipses, blackholes, reproductive cycles – as thresholds that mediate transitional space.
